Amber Hills Motel - Salome - Arizona

Try as I might, I wasn’t able to find much information on the Amber Hills Motel. Driving by, it seemed obvious that the place hasn’t been open as a motel for many years, but still, it was in a remarkable state of preservation. The grounds are very neat, and the planters in great condition. Which makes me believe that whoever owns the property is keeping it maintained, perhaps with intentions of bringing the place back to life in some form or another. Definitely not an abandoned property.

One of the things that caught my attention, it looks like each of the motel rooms had a covered space to park the motel guest’s car. Back in the days when cars where much smaller than they are today. The wood doors on most of the garage openings appear to be relatively new and in great condition.

An old postcard shows the place with the name Blue Star Motel and Cafe.

Much as I wanted to peek inside the rooms, the gate across the opening of the driveway was closed and locked, so I remained outside the property. Maybe next time I’m in the area, it will be open for business. Would be great to spend the night in such a neat motor court.

If anyone reading this has any information regarding the property, recent or past, I’d love to hear from you and update this post. Please drop a comment below.
