The General Store - Benton - California

An E.C.V. plaque on the front wall states that the building was opened by J.R. Morrison as a Wells Fargo Agency and general store in 1868. Another source lists 1864 as its construction date. Regardless of the exact year, this old building has certainly stood the test of time and has served the community as a Wells Fargo Office, a General Store, Gas Station, Trading Post and Post Office. A picture from the 1920s shows the building as a single story. I’d love to be able to take a peak inside.
