Check Under the Hood? - Abandoned Mojave Desert Service Station - California

It’s probably been thirty plus years, at least, since anyone has said that at this location. But at one time, this was a bustling stop on a highway that was once a major route from hither to yon. Now, it’s pretty much left for the ghosts of the highway.

Old, crumbling buildings behind the service station appear to have once housed a garage and several dwellings.

The overall sense of abandonment and loneliness almost seeps up out of the ground at this forgotten location.

This main building was quite large. Restrooms in one corner, what looks to be the remains of a nice sized showcase that held who knows what, but probably something that would cater to travelers. Maybe the rooms out back were available for those needing to spend the night.

I don’t know that I would have wanted to sleep in this one, though….

Hope you enjoyed the pictures and words. Please leave a comment below if you have any information on this abandoned spot.
