School’s Out for Ever! - Rt 66 - Arizona

A great, old one-room wood-frame schoolhouse which still stands along a bypassed section of Route 66. Reportedly, the teacher lived in the basement. Weather is definitely taking its toll on this beauty.

A reader was kind enough to send me this picture above, taken during the 1970s when the building was used as a church. Here’s what she related: “That building was used as a church in the early 1970s and my dad was the pastor. I showed your picture to my parents and they really enjoyed seeing them. The building was in poor shape even then and the church members had to bring blankets to stay warm. My mom said that mice would run in and out of the piano when it was played.”
